13th Week

This week, I have submitted my updated PLN Mindmap and the presentation.

I am very happy to learn about Jing and Screencast. I can't believe how useful these tools are. Simply amazing.

I will use these two tools frequently from now on. There is so much I can do for our school using Jing and Screencast. A very big learning experience for me. I knew the concept but these two tools made it extremely easy. So i am  happy to learn.

I have attended a webinar this week on April 9, 2015. It was from Firestorm Company. The session was about conducting a self study about school safety. The official name and presenter is as follows:

The webinar “It will never happen here – Conducting a self-assessment – How do you know what you don’t know” was presented by Jim Satterfield, President, COO and Co-Founder of Firestorm.

The key objectives were:

  • Risk-management processes
  • Risks correctly evaluated
  • Effectiveness of the ERM process
  • Evaluation and reporting of key risks
  • Review management process of key risks
  • System of internal controls operating effectively
  • Oversight of monitoring

The big questions during webinar were:

  • Why measure?
  • What Should You Measure?
  • How Should You Measure?
  • Site Assessment
  • What Do You Measure Against?
  • What is the Measurement Process?
Overall it was a helpful webinar. But since they are selling some services, the full effectiveness will only be known by me when the services are purchased and used.

11th Week

This week was very productive for me.

At the end, I was able to submit my class wiki and respond to one my friend's class wiki item.  I never used wiki before. I am very happy to learn it.

This week I also finished the analysis of my PLN network and created an image of my PLN.

I loved the idea of Mind MAP. I think each faculty members should have such a mind map and should share with each other. I think it will be very beneficial to everyone.

I have registered to a webinar on April 9 and I am looking forward to it.

10th Week

This week I complete the presentation for Virtual Team Project. I think we are in the right direction with this project.

We now need to work on voice thread. I am excited that I will be learning something new. I did not use voice thread before. I watched a trial video about it and it looks great. I especially like the idea that each person's picture and sound comes for different slides.

I will share this tool with my faculty at school. I think students can easily create projects using voice thread.

9th Week

This week I continued to work on my Virtual Team project and read different resources from my professional learning network.  It was a busy week for me but still productive.

I like the idea of Mind MAP very much. I am excited to start working on it also.

I think our Virtual Team Project will end up with a great product when it is over. I believe it will be very helpful to those who look at it.

8th Week

Hello everyone,

This week I did Skype with my team members on our virtual project.

I also worked on my word processing assignment and submitted it.

I enjoyed the assignment as it covered many relevant aspects of what we are doing at schools.

With the Virtual Team Project, Professional Learning Network and Productivity tools, this class is becoming very helpful in very many ways.

Happy to learn new things every week.

Sincerely,
Kenan Sener

7th Week

This week I submitted my request to login wiki and also I worked on the virtual team project.

I truly enjoy our virtual team project as it is very relevant today's education issues.

Last year at our school we organized cyber school day to continue learning during snow days.

Channel 2 made a news about our school for about two minutes.

Please see it here:

We are now working as a team virally on online education and I think the end product will be helpful to everyone.

Have a great week.

5th Week

Hello,

This is the 5th week.

We have come up with an amazing Virtual Team group project with my team members this week.

Based on our survey results, there is common administrative and faculty uncertainty/questions regarding the use of virtual/online classes. Our project would focus on the delivery of information regarding virtual/online/cloud-based classes from a K-12 perspective. We will address & answer questions relative to the following:

1.     How will such a learning environment look (on a large scale) from the perspective of both faculty and administration?
2.     Is there a recognized leader (specific school, district, state) in high school that is pioneering this type of learning environment?
3.     What are the primary driver(s) that lead to the employment of this type of learning environment?
4.     What are the major successes/failures/lessons learned regarding development from a systems standpoint (inputs, processes, outputs, feedback)?

5.     What does the future hold regarding this type of system (will it die, will it remain an integrated part of the traditional system, will it become co-equal with the traditional setting, or will economic/financial difficulties force it to become the primary mode of educational delivery)?

I am very excited about this project as it certainly relate what I try to achieve at my own school.

4th Week

Hello Everyone,

I continue to enjoy creating my own Professional Learning Network in this class. This week I learned about Diigo. I now have my free teacher Diigo account as well. I am part of the class group and able to follow the new entries.

I found Diigo very helpful. It is great to add Diigo and Delicious to toolbar and book mark items from there. It was also great to use highlight and sticky notes in Diigo. It is certainly very helpful.

Sincerely,
Kenan Sener

It is wonderful to be able to add any website to delicious as resource.

I love the idea of creating a professional learning network.

I feel like i should recommend this same activity to all of my teachers.

I wish all of you a wonderful week.

First Week

Hello everyone.

I missed the first blackboard session this week but then I listened to the recorded session. It was very helpful.

Even though I had another blog, I chose to create this new blog for this class.

I started using feedly this week  and found it very helpful.

I am currently working on linking my blog to feedly.

I feel like this class will be very helpful to me.
